Easter Weekend Run 2nd to 5th April 2015

Purpose.

Hi all, hope this letter finds you all fit and healthy after the Christmas holidays. Lio and I are heading off for a long weekend break on the bike over the Easter holiday weekend. We thought it might be a good idea to invite as many friends to join us as would like to come along.

Too often we say to each other ‘we must have a meal together or catch up for a drink sometime’. Well this is your chance. The weekend is purely a social gathering to catch up with old friends, make some new ones, talk and laugh until your jaw aches, eat, drink and generally be merry.

Everyone who receives or reads this letter is invited to come along with wives, husbands, children, partners or even your favourite sheep. There is no set itinerary although I have outlined below what Lio and I will be doing over the weekend (maybe not everything we will be doing though) so that you can either join us or take your own route. No pressure, no compulsion and no agenda.

Location.

We are gathering just outside of the city of Salisbury in Wiltshire which is just North of Southampton and close to Stonehenge. The hotel is located at the end of the A343 (where do I recognise that number from?) and is a short ride to the city centre. Plenty to see and do there if you want shopping, eating, drinking or sight seeing.

Address: Salisbury North Bishopsdown Hotel. Pearce Way, Bishopdown, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 3GU

Telephone: Hotel number – 0871 527 8956

Premier Inn lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Customer Contact Centre is open 8am to 10pm Mon - Sat & 9am to 10pm on Sun. Tel: 0871 527 9222

Arrangements.

Due to the uncertainty of how many people are coming and also the time of the weekend it has not been possible to negotiate a block booking. Therefore, booking of accommodation and meals are down to each person or group coming (it also reduces my workload).

When booking your room you also have the option to add breakfast and an evening meal the choice is yours. The Hotel have agreed to let us all sit down together in a designated area at either 18:00 or 21:30. Rough idea of cost for the meal is approximately £13.00 per head for 3

courses. I suggest that if we want to eat together then the 18:00 option is probably best as we can then spend the evening socialising in the bar. Alternatively you can eat at whatever time you want but you will have to book that at the hotel each day. If you would prefer to eat at another location, that’s fine too. No pressure, no compulsion and no agenda.

Once you have booked your rooms etc. can you please let me know what options you have selected and how many people are coming so that I can make sitting time arrangements for the meals. h@haitch.co.uk is my email address.

Itinerary

I have learned never to say things are written in tablets of stone and can’t change. Therefore the following itinerary has been formulated to give an idea of where we are likely to be but is subject to change. The weather will dictate some of the activities but we are in a nice part of the country and there are lots of things to see either inside (if its raining) or outside (if its sunny).

Cost of admission is again down to individuals as I cant book tickets without confirmed numbers. However, we may be able to negotiate a discount depending on how many of us there are attending. Once I have a better idea of numbers I will phone the locations and see what the situation is.

Equally, if you want to do your own thing, then feel free to do so. There is a short list of alternative locations and sights at the end of this note. No pressure, no compulsion and no agenda.

Thursday.

14:00 – rooms are available for access.

18:00 – Evening social. Arrangements for sitting together will be dependent on numbers and who informs me they want to eat together.
